#TBT (September 2016)
- Dun dun DUNNN... ~ The Tarp! ~ -
This session took place a week after the pallet session.
I usually confirm the previous session before beginning a new one. So here, we're starting with walking on the pallets. Only this time I'm on the side.
The tarp was actually just a piece of cake for BlackPearl. And believe me or not. It was his first time walking over. (I have tried before but he kept bolting away). So it's never a bad thing tu postpone some stuff, so long as you focus on your objectives.
I always start with leading my horse through the tough parts. But ultimately I always end up walking WITH him - not leading, not pushing. That's how you get yourself a partner.
I also like stopping him and backing him when he's ready. Just to build up his confidence to add something new to him.
Hope you enjoy this little video.

Just because we’re being in the arena doesn’t me we have to work. And just because we work doesn’t mean we can’t have fun
It is so important to me to let the horses enjoy the arena, and I want them to be able to find comfort in it as well.
When we’re headed to the arena, I don’t want them to feel like I feel on a Sunday evening knowing I have to work on Monday. I want them to feel good about it and always expect the best experience out of it.
Feeling good and comfort shouldn’t be considered as a reward, but rather as something we owe them (inspired by @nickyshorsemanship )
And heck, even if we only exercised for a couple minutes, does it really matter? What is it compared to your horse being so excited about seeing you?
Next thing you know, you’ll be screaming “oh my gosh yes!!! good job!!” with the biggest smile on your face 😃, both eager to feel excited the next time around.
Seek their comfort first, folks! let them know they can have fun with you.
This is an edit that I really like, so I’m reposting it.
So, interest development: BP did not mind jumping into a trot when he heard the barn owner bring oat.
I wish someone took a photography of him prancing pony, head and tail high, performing really nice piaffé. I mean what the heck, a PIAFFÉ!
I hope you folks enjoy the video if you had never seen it. And if you had seen it, well... re-enjoy? 😂
song: Unison Falling Into Harmony by Great Lake Swimmers
So, this is a side of BlackPearl you guys don’t get to see a lot (this is an old photo)
Heck even I don’t see it a lot, actually less and less.
Sometimes his mind just wanders off, and that’s when I wish I could be in his head!
BP is feeling less alone when we’re just the both of us.
So this is the thing I have been thinking about: that bond we share with our horses is constantly changing, if we’re lucky enough it gets stronger.
Me, I am really thankful for this change, it makes our relationship not dull! See, what I mean?
❓Tell me what you think! Was there a then and is there a now between you and your horses❓
Quincy has always been such an easy horse to halter
I can’t think of a single time when Quincy made it hard for me to put on the halter.
I will just hold the nose band in my left hand, put my right arm over her neck, by the time I even think of pulling up the halter she will have thrown her nose right in.
Even when she walks a few steps away from me and everyone would think she doesn’t want to be caught, the second my hand softly lands on her neck and the halter under her nose, she will stop and put her heart to it.
What about you folks? What are the little things your horses do that make you so proud?
I just realized it’s been a while since I had posted a #bnw
It’s this time of the week again! The #TBT !
BUT WAIT!!!! It’s a magic #CaptionThis#Throwback combo of thousand wonders! A combo where you folks let your wild imagination lash out into a perfect caption and let it scripted forever in my comment section 🤩
PS this is a throwback to when he pooped while picking his hooves (which he still does 😩)
PS2 I shall post the previous favorite meme on my Facebook page along the winner of this one (the one with the most likes)
I am really missing these summer late afternoons
So I mentioned something nasty in my last post: with two friends we trained and practiced our trimming on dead hooves, then sawed open a couple hooves to examine the internal structures of long toed, contracted heels, stretched toed hooves and whatnot.
I will not post the pictures though, it’s pretty graphic.
(Feel free to ask for them if interested)
If you have any questions please ask away
So uh yeah! 😷🤢
Are you guys ready for Halloween? What are you gonna dress up like?
I need to take more pictures of this donkey face
So I did some pretty nasty stuff today (horse related). Should I post them in my story? (I gotta tell you it’s pretty graphic)
WAITTTT: can you guys guess what it is?
Also, I might be throwing another caption this 🤘You up for it?
Guys!!! I hope all is well with you. Y’all enjoy your Sunday (or Monday). What’s new with you!
Oh brother that’s a shit ton of questions here 🤣🤣🤣
NOT - Sorry
So this, in the video, is why I called the osteopath
It didn’t get better after the first visit.
This time, the second practitioner took time to ask me questions and think with me.
Lower cervical vertebrae were not aligned. I guess we’ll see the result in the next few days. I will still have to test my horses though.
By the way folks, thank you so much for your help and support (comments, DM) they really helped me. Saying I am thankful is an understatement, truly. It all means a lot to me. Love you guys for that
I kinda miss this
Do you guys ever take a moment to enjoy the harmony between you and your horse?
There’s always this blissful moment when both horse and rider tune in, even if for just a second.
Everything becomes very easy, just like the two minds become one. That’s usually when I dismount.
Do you guys know what I mean? (Even during groundwork)
Quincy spotted a young stallion 🤩😍
Her hooves are getting sensitive again 😩. I will try and walk her more...
- her hoof wall is growing with a nice angle
- collateral grooves are deeper
- she lost sole concavity 😤😤😤
- something seems to be off with her shoulder 😖😖😖 guess who is seeing the osteopath on Wednesday as well
Come on Quincyyyyyyy! We can do it!
