Decided to hit the stand with @kader_tot on this beautiful night after work and it paid off!The deer were on their feet feeding like crazy tonight. North Dakota tag is notched!👊
Wild, semi-wild and farmed. The large apples are BLACK TWIGS from my own backyard, just outside New York City; the ASIAN PEARS and small apples (BLACK OXFORDS) are feral, from Northeast Pennsylvania -- @BillyDobitsch and I planted them about 15 years ago, but we've never tended them; the three LION'S MANE MUSHROOMS in center are from our little backyard mushroom farm, planted by Dan @TheForagedFeast. At lower right, a wild GIANT PUFFBALL MUSHROOM. The small CHESTNUTS are a gift from Advisor @RandyDewing ... they are growing in an abandoned orchard in Indiana. Randy doesn't know who planted the trees, but he enjoys the nuts every year. The larger chestnuts are from an American/Chinese tree planted years ago by Billy and I. The CHILIS are a gift from a man in New Mexico. He phoned me weeks ago to talk about WeatherWool, and then sent a box of perfect local chilis and a bag of wonderfully aromatic coffee blended with pinon nuts gathered by a friend of his. There is no telling whether the peppers are HOT or SWEET until you bite, which makes things interesting for sure ... I've been eating them like candy. The VENISON, from our own little SWAMP SPOT in Jersey, will be fried in the BEAR FAT shown in the gravy boat. MANY THANKS to my friend Tom for gifting us a beautiful blackie last fall! Photo by @Lauralie_Studios. Love for Wild Foods led us directly to create WeatherWool. . . . . . . .
Brent Ivy(hat) vs Michael Adams(no hat). They are friends and they have both submitted a legit 6 point candidate for the Los Cazadores Deer Contest! Question of the Night - Which one scored 117 3/8 and which one scored 115 1/8? #loscazadores @loscazadores
Two nights ago will be a night I won’t ever forget! The previous evening @dalindsey19 and I were sitting in one of David’s favorite stands. The movement had been good and with 15 minutes of shooting light left David spotted “T-Rex” coming out of the timber a couple hundred yards away. He fed slowly and ended up moving towards the timber behind us. It slowly got dark and we waited for awhile before getting down not knowing exactly where he went and hoping not to bump him getting out. After several sits of watching quite a few deer work into the timber where he did that evening, the next day @dalindsey19 and I went and hung a set in a small hickory tree up in the corner where he walked in the timber the evening before. We finished hanging the set and were back in there hunting in it 3 hours later on a cold, clear, high pressure evening. We had just seen a doe and a young buck and I heard David say “he just stepped out”. Honestly, thinking he was joking since it was only 5:40 I peaked over my shoulder to see T-Rex standing in the @mossyoakbiologic clover field working right towards us. He slowly worked right at us to 10 yards right below the tree and never presenting a shot. He got to the spot we had walked the stands in several hours before and the 6th sense of a 6.5 yr old whitetail kicked in and he looked right up through the brush at us. He turned around and trotted back out into the clover and stopped at 24 yards giving @dalindsey19 a quartering away shot and the @mathewsinc drove it in deep ending the story and quest for T-Rex. A big congrats to @dalindsey19 on killing another much deserved stud Iowa whitetail! When all the hard work and dedication comes to fruition there is nothing quite like it! Can’t wait to share the 3 year story of T-Rex on season 4 of @thelindseyway ! For more pics of T-Rex be sure to check out my story! #thelindseyway#whitetails#whitetaildreams#fall #🦖

———- Since posting about having a saddle to hunt from this season the two main questions I’ve gotten are:
Is it safe? &
Is it comfortable? -
I’ll be posting a video soon showing how safe the saddle is. Over the next few weeks I’ll find out how comfortable it is to hunt from for hours on end but from what I’ve experienced so far it seems very comfortable. -
In the meantime keep sending DMs with questions. As I learn more about hunting from this unique system I’ll keep y’all informed!
Right outside my office! Doesn’t get any better then that my friends. Well unless your in a tree stand... but hey at least I get to enjoy the outdoors! Even when I’m at the office! #SOUTHEASTOHIO#WHITETAILS#2018
