The worst feeling ever is to depend on others to see your #vision . Your #dream . Your #worth . We often look to others in our time of self doubt for comfort when in reality, only we know how to comfort ourselves. I use to have people telling me "you shouldn't be doing this" or "that's not gonna work out". Basically crushing MY visions, gas lighting my dreams. I was soo negative about myself that I started believing I wasn't good enough. Being compared to others, put to the side, discouraged. Once I took a step back from everything that made me question MY WORTH and MY SANITY, everything started falling into #perspective . Not everyone is going to #believe in you. What others think or feel of you is a #reflection of how they see themselves. Just observe. Not everyone is going to keep it real with you. In fact, you'd be surprised at who wants to see you FAIL! NEVER IGNORE THE SIGNS, THE ACTIONS, OR YOUR FEELINGS! Your vision, your dream, your worth - is just THAT, YOURS. Can nobody take from you what you OWN. And once you OWN it, others will see you. #TRUST ME, they will! It may piss a couple people off, but you can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Change your thoughts, and your outcomes will change too! “One of the issues that I thought was a really meaningful discussion was about the herring fishery here in Sitka. It was interesting to hear the elders tell stories about how plentiful herring used to be, and how things are changing by comparing it to recent interactions.
“It made me realize how important it is to preserve what we have left, and that we really need to take care of it so it can continue to take care of us. I think the elders of specific regions know the land best and their voices need to be heard and listened to.
“I feel that both science and traditional knowledge are very important and both need to be accounted for equally. Scientific studies are crucial to be able to physically present data, but it’s just as important to hear out people who have been living off the land for generations.”
Andrew Martin, a student at Mount Edgecumbe High School, attended the Southeast Advisory Council’s annual meeting in Sitka as part of a college-credit course he’s taking on the federal subsistence management process. Students learned about the process for changing subsistence regulations and got to participate in the processes that impact the resources they and their families use and depend on.
É importante saber deixar ir. É importante saber a hora de parar de olhar para trás. É importante seguir, com a certeza de que as coisas ficaram no lugar, e se caso não ficaram, segue mesmo assim, dizem que com o tempo as coisas se ajeitam!

Just got to spend 3 days with these awesome human beings 🙌 Learned such valuable things from each one of them during our conversations and I’m thankful for the time we all spent with our phones away, quietly putting in the work 👩🏽💻 Back home now with newfound purpose. Much to be done 😉
