Where brook trout roam. I was pretty stoked to make one last treck to a few high mountain lakes before the end of general trout season, the snow falls and mountain passes close. See you next year. #lostcoastoutfitters

I started my hiking trip at Fontana Dam #timelapsetuesday#gopro which is the southern entry point of the Appalachian Trail into the Great Smoky Mountains. The trail actually goes over the dam. I parked in the Visitors Center parking lot for the Dam and hiked over the dam into the National Park. The trail then follows a road for a half mile before ending at a trailhead. The Appalachian Trail veers left and the Lakeshore Trail goes right. I took the Lakeshore Trail into the backcountry. I prefer the GSM backcountry over the AT. It is much less crowded.
“Trees are so confident, so sure of their identity, their feet are rooted strong in the ground, they do not wonder, or try to find out who they are, or where they came from. Instead as they grow, their roots grow further into the ground, and their branches reach up higher to God.”
The last weekend in February I loaded up and made the long trip out west to a remote set of lakes. I proceeded to spend the next three days in the frigid cold chasing these monsters through the ice. I caught several fish over 40”, and it was one of the most incredible trips of my year. I had all of best gear. I was the first on the ice drilling holes and rigging up. I was alone. The few guys who had braved the cold that weekend approached me thinking I was a man. —- Something I’ve always been on the fence about is the angler/female angler status. Currently, being a female in this industry has its pros and cons. But sometimes the pros are actually cons in my eyes. For example, when sponsors reach out and say they’ve been needing a female on board, and I would rather be sought after for my talent. For me, I’ve always preferred to forfeit the extra opportunities and accreditation that comes with being a rarity in this sport, stating that I’m simply an angler. But then again, there’s an incredible opportunity for women in the outdoors to help pave the path and set the tone for the direction of this sport. To my fellow ladies in the outdoors, what are your thoughts on this? My sweet friend and fellow tournament angler Rebecca golden said before she passed, “I don’t want to be known as a female angler, I just want to be known as a bad ass angler”. Please share ladies!
Just replaying the sounds Adam Ondra makes while he climbs in my head 😂😆.. thanks to @cmff.ca & @alpineclubcan // I think @reelrock reminded lots of us what an amazing backyard we have to play in! 📸: @mascaraandmountains
