What a year it as been! Anything can happen at anytime. I locked eyes on this buck in late October and immediately knew he would be on my shooter list. With no trail cam pictures at all of this buck, I knew he was in the area from my previous encounter. All I had to do was wait for him to show face again. After making a move with my @tethrdnation tree saddle. I was setup for success, I only moved 40 yds from my original stand location and it paid off. Thanks for everyone that played a part in this buck weather you were here with me or not, it was a huge help. Can’t ask for better family and friends ! .
A half decent trapper will be a great hunter; but, a half decent hunter will be a mediocre trapper, at best. Terrain features, visual attractants, scent usage etc are all vital parts of trapping. A year spent trapping will teach you more about woodsmanship than 5 years of hunting will.
I literally sat on the ground criss-cross-applesauce because I spotted a fresh rub and didn't bring in my stool with me because I was going to a tree stand. So I set up and saw 4 deer walk through between 25-40 yards: 2 doe, 1 fat spike buck, and 1 (possibly legal) 4 maybe 5 pointer behind a bush. Needless to say, I didn't get a shot off today, but I'm encouraged that I saw 2 bucks! It's mostly been doe otherwise, and I don't have any doe tags. Can't wait for my time off next week so I can get out again! #Hunting#HuntPA#Crossbow#pawhitetail#archery#therutison
As they say..”that’s the way the cookie crumbles”. Last sunrise of archery season was gorgeous. Slowest AM deer movement I saw all week. PM movement was on. Had a shooter show up at 50 yards with a spike. Spike walked to me. Shooter walked to my other stand. Saw 25 bucks in 4 days. A very action packed few days in the stand to say the least. Now onto the trap line. #seewhatsoutthere#huntpa#sickforit#archery#bowhunt#trapping

As the waning hours of the Pennsylvania archery season draw to a close, we reflect. Many of us have been blessed to fill tags, but for those who have not, the rifle season is encroaching quickly. It’s been a good year, and I learned more and more with every sit. There truly is nothing like archery hunting.
