Work life balance...for me it’s all swirled together. My friend, Sue Zimmerman, caught me catching up on biz while were having fun being tourists in our own town of #boston near #copleysquare . I call Boston a town because I can walk from the far part of the #southendboston to #downtownboston in about 30 minutes. In that walk, I usually see at least 10 people I know. Boston is a city, but it sure feels like a friendly town too! The hallowed halls of the Boston Public Library have been on my wish list for years, so it was such a wow moment walking into the main reading room for the first time. Besides being aesthetically beautiful, it was just wonderful to see so many people making use of the library, engrossed in books and their studies. I recently wrote and published an article on behalf of Thomas W.P. Slatin (follow him on Instagram @tomslatin) entitled, "Hope for Restoration of the Westholm Hotel" see this link for the complete article: https://patch.com/new-york/albany-ny/hope-restoration-westholm-hotel Thomas Slatin (www.tomslatin.com) Photographed the property earlier this month, after being given permission by the owners of the hotel which is in need of restoration, with the hope that the photographs are utilized to document the current state of the property, and again with the hope that it will be restored one day. According to the hotel owner, "there are plans to restore this hotel." The top photograph is of The Westholm Hotel in its heyday when it was beautiful and highly visited by tourists, many from NYC who loved to go to The Westholm located in The Catskills. The bottom picture shows the current state of one of the rooms in the hotel. I think the way Slatin photographed the image, and the light shining through indicates a bit of hope that this hotel can be and may be restored to its glory days! ❤️the hotel was opened in the late 1800's and closed on the early 1990's. This crisp, cool weather is just begging for a good book and a fireplace. We recommend heading over to the #EastBoston branch of @bplboston, checking out a new novel or two, and heading back home to snuggle up with your book in front of the fireplace in the #BostonEast community club room. Did we mention the library is less than a mile away from our lobby? Life is good when you #LiveBostonEast . http://bit.ly/BPLEastBoston (📷: @East_Boston) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Playing tourist in Boston.
Whenever we come to Boston we try to stop by it’s Public Library, one of the oldest and second largest in the States.
The atmosphere of incredible calm, tranquility and general benevolence fills the air of these walls. You wander through its halls soaking it all in, and the magnificent panels of Sargent, Chavannes and Abbey’s murals that cover the walls do not overwhelm you, but remind you that art in all its forms helps us to rise above reality. #bostonpubliclibrary , #boston
